Reading

Things We Hide from the Light by Lucy Score has reinvigorated my love for rough & tough, blue collar men. It had a first-rate slow burn that last 300+ pages and a grumpy man, my two favorite things. In spite of the fact that I read this 600 page book in 22 hours, I would still say it wasn’t memorable. There were really cringey moments including all of the nicknames, a low-stakes plot line, and was in general, too easy of a read for me. The silver lining here is that I have heard the 3rd book is the best one! Now I just have to wait in the 31 person hold line at the library to get my hands on it cause no way I’m spending my money on a book I am certain I will only read the one time.

Eating

Sooooooouppp. It’s soup season! I love soup, I want all soups to come with a side of grilled cheese, or have cheese broiled on top of it, dealers choice. The soup I made this week was a first for me and it was, in a word, awesome. I made a creamy, butternut squash and apple slow cooker soup. Soup is already fantastic but in a slow cooker? When it makes your home smell good all DAY? 10/10. I paired this soup with a white cheddar grilled cheese that I added some honey caramelized apple slices too, cause I’m a try hard.

Soup Tip of the Day: I have 1 & 2 cup silicone containers I put soup in to put in my freezer so that I can have soup anytime I want, also, soup recipes always have way too many servings for me to eat quickly.

Playing

Alright, I’ve been getting a little soft in my music recommendations, this week will be just cool guy tunes that I would play if I have aux with my friends but only if we were driving home from a night out and these are the winding down but still cool guy vibes, ya know?

Time x Skizzy Mars, Olivver the Kid, G-Eazy
Very Few Friends x Saint Levant
pretty little lies x Marco Luka
Juice x Young Franco, Pell
Nightstand x Justus Bennetts
Georgia Peaches x Mir Fontane

Obsession

This is not a new obsession, but with the recent weather, it is time to talk about it. I get a lot of my tea blends from Red Dragon Tea and everything special blend they have delivers. The sleepytime tea knocks my ass out.

Recommendation

We're getting to present season and not only for Christmas but also for Scorpio birthday season. Specifically, I want to give recommendations for gifts for avid readers because I find book accessories to be a very exciting part.

#1: Book Sleeves

First of all, they are so cute. I buy mine on Etsy and there are so many cute, embroidered and knit options. I love these because I try to always have a book on me and I don’t want the covers getting bent or scratched if they are just out and about in my bag.

#2: Book Nooks

I am obsessed with these. I feel like all readers will love these because we are all ready drawn to little, unique worlds, the only problem is that we can’t actually get inside this one. They come in a bunch of different styles like the greenhouse you can see about, I personally have a little street view one that has a bookshop inside and cats on windowsills. This is a fun gift because it is also fun to put together, time consuming, but fun. I buy mine on etsy or amazon and I will continue adding to my collection til I have them all.
